London trip for Year 13 chemists
News posted: 10-12-2008
7am on a cold Tuesday morning was the perfect time for the year 13 chemists to meet at Piccadilly Station ready to board the 7.15 train to London. Luckily everyone was early and by 7.10 we were happily drinking coffee waiting to go!
With no delays we arrived at Euston by 9.45 and hopped straight onto the underground to take us to the Science Museum. The potential medics in the group found the “Science and Art of Medicine” and the “History of Medicine” Galleries fascinating, giving them lots of information to take to their University interviews with them. For the rest of us the “Plasticity” exhibition, showing the development of plastics from the early 20th Century and the future applications, was a great favourite.
Following the Science Museum we moved onto the Natural History Museum, all of us spending a good 2 hours wandering around amazed, as always, at the sheer size and scale of nature! Unfortunately we were unable to have a guided tour of the new Darwin Centre, maybe next year..........
