Head Girls' Conference
News posted: 07-10-2008
In September, the 5 leaders of the Girls’ Prefect Team, Emma Washington, Alison Boon, Ayeisha Carroll, Emily Blackshaw and Vicky Shuttleworth, attended the annual GSA Head Girls’ Conference, hosted by Merchant Taylors’ Girls School, Crosby. The meeting brought together senior girls from all over the region to discuss this year’s theme: Events Management. As part of the day’s activities the girls worked in teams with members of other schools to complete an “Events Challenge”. Given the task of planning either a fundraising or a friendraising event, they then had to make their ‘Pitch’ to the group and present their event in terms of target audience, location, profit-making, budgeting, risk assessment, funding, marketing and success criteria. From a 007 casino night to a green-themed eco-friendly fashion show, each group managed to present their ideas and cover all of the criteria involved in organising events. Merchant Taylors’ proved to be excellent hosts providing coffee and croissants on arrival, with a range of refreshments throughout the day, and a complementary “goody” bag for every delegate. Throughout the day there were opportunities to socialise with girls from other schools and hear about occasions which they had organised. The conference allowed our girls to develop their skills in events management and gave them inspiration for activities to host at Hulme.
