Thursday 23rd April - Girls Carnegie Champion Schools - Regional North West
News posted: 24-04-2009
Well done to the girls Year 10 Rugby team who travelled to Widnes on Thursday for the second round of the Carnegie Champion Schools Tournament. Our squad of 12 players gave one hundred percent in the quest to make the National Festival. In our pool we played against Southlands (Chorley) losing 4-0 and Lymm winning 4-1, to finish in 2nd place. We then went through to the knock out stage where we beat St Edward Arrowsmith a very convincing 7-0. This match secured our place in the semi final against Deanery. Unfortunately for us, Deanery had a games rest and this made all the difference. Our squad were by this stage battered and bruised and a player down (Charlotte Daubney suffered a bad knock in match one and took no further part) running on empty. Despite 2 superb tries we couldn't hold off the momentum of the Deanery attack and lost 6-2. An excellent afternoon of rugby, the team continue to build and develop. Well played everyone. We all wish Charlotte a very speedy recovery from her injury. The tries scored for Hulme throughout the tournament were:
Brogan Crowley 11 (Awesome)!! Rebecca Rooney 2 Danniella Soldner 1
