Pastoral Care
The welfare of pupils entering the school is a very high priority for us; the vast majority adapt quickly to the school as they receive a great deal of guidance and support in a caring and well-disciplined environment.
In the early years at Hulme the most important teaching and pastoral unit is the form. Each form tutor works hard to help pupils settle in quickly. As well as short registration meetings at the start of the morning and the afternoon sessions, there is one period a week allocated especially to form meetings. These meetings form the core of the personal, health, and social education programme.
Form tutors are supported by a head of year, who in turn works with the senior tutor who oversees day to day pastoral issues at Hulme.
The physical education department operates a fitness evaluation programme which is complemented in the PHSE programme by units on personal development, understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and good diet and exercise.
We have a full-time school nurse who is supported by the school's medical officer. They both work in partnership with pupils and their parents.
