Year 3 profits by Bursars visit!

News posted: 06-10-2009

As part of Year 3's topic this term they are looking at running their own business. 15 girls have been divided into three enterprise groups and in their group they have decided their company name. Over the course of three weeks they will visit three very different retail outlets and do a survey on pricing and advertising. They will also discuss why we buy food from all over the world and this will link in with caring for their local environment and buying home grown produce.

Each group will decide where to buy their produce from and how much to sell it for. They are going to run a 'Smoothie Cafe' and sell their smoothies with profits being donated to charity.

Mr Ian Martin, our school Bursar, offered to come and talk to Year 3.

He arrived with a bag of apples and helped the girls understand how to make a profit. He also described what his working day involved and that he was part of a team that worked together.

His last bit of advice was... to offer the best service you can and with a smile, that way your customer will always come back!

We hope that Mr Martin will come back and enjoy one of our smoothies!
