H1N1 / Swine Flu
News posted: 07-09-2009
Dear Parent
Swine Flu
This morning we received notice of a confirmed case of Swine Flu/H1N1 – a senior pupil in the sixth form. Unless otherwise advised the school will remain open and all school activities will continue as normal. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice and guidance produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the Health Protection Agency and the Independent Schools Council.
If your son or daughter develops flu-like symptoms please keep him/her at home and contact your own GP or the National Pandemic Flu Service (www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu or www.nhs.uk or 0800 1513 100). Pupils showing signs of infection at school will be sent to the Medical Room where they will be cared for until a parent or guardian can collect them.
Pupils are asked to remain at home until fully recovered (usually no more than 7 days) and if taking anti-viral medication at least until the course is complete.
Yours sincerely
Dr Paul G Neeson Principal
