Learning about Lowry in Year 2

News posted: 17-03-2010

The Year Two children have recently studied the work of Salford Artist L.S.Lowry as part of our work on Megastructures. The children were fascinated to learn that Lowry liked to paint everyday people leading everyday lives. The children used the techniques that Lowry used by first using chalks and charcoals to mark the outlines of the structures in the paintings. They then selected the sorts of colours that Lowry used to create the correct mood and atmosphere in the pictures. Black crayons were used to accentuate selected parts of the pictures, before finally drawing in some people in the background of the pictures.

The children were thrilled with their final pieces and we are sure that you will be impressed too!
