Careers
Both Senior Schools have a dedicated Careers and Higher Education Guidance team. The three careers rooms are available to all students and the careers staff offer impartial guidance on an "open door" policy. The careers resources are second to none; multiple copies of major texts are available in the Boys' careers room, Girls' careers room and Centenary Library.
All students receive formal careers education from Key Stage 3 onwards and interviews are offered with Oldham Connexions in years 10 and 11. Informal discussion is encouraged throughout and the students are given extra help at key transition stages such as choosing GCSE and 'A' level subjects and applying to university. The careers staff have input at every stage of a student's development.
We work closely with Oldham Connexions; each school has a Connexions Personal Adviser who is available in school 1 day each week.
The careers staff also arrange a programme of outside speakers to talk to pupils on a wide range of careers during the year. We organise a Biennial "Higher Education and Careers Convention" with admissions tutors from various universities and representatives from a variety of professional organisations. Work experience is also offered in year 11 and year 12 in the Girls' School and in year 12 in the Boys' School.
