Nursery
New Nursery for Kindergarten
As we returned from the summer break, another new chapter opened in the life of Hulme. Our nursery children were finally able to move to the fabulous Thorneycroft site and their bespoke accommodation which is built around the original coach house. Our new nursery is already full and proving to be extremely popular with children and staff.
In developing a modern and efficient structure that meets all current regulations, but designed around the features of the existing building, we have provided a school which is both contemporary in design and sympathetic to its historic character.
The main area of the new nursery building is a large, light and airy open plan teaching space which can easily be sectioned off for smaller work groups as required. The large teaching space opens on to a covered outdoor play area which can be enclosed if the weather is particularly bad. This in turn leads to the nursery’s own outdoor play ground; both these areas have child friendly rubber crumb surfacing.
Inside there are reading areas offering a little more privacy, and a separate teaching room for smaller group work. Everything from the toilets to the computer work stations has been designed with the little ones in mind. The teachers also have a great work space with their own facilities and plenty of storage areas. The build incorporates all the latest technology including environmentally friendly lighting and radiant panel heating systems, points for interactive whiteboards, CCTV and door access systems.
