GCSE Results – August 2015
Hulme’s GCSE students have much to celebrate having achieved an excellent set of results this summer. The overall pass rate was again 96%, with 99% of students achieving the national 5 A*-C benchmark. Nearly half (48%) of these results were A*/A grades. Over a third (36%) of Hulme’s Year 11 achieved at least 7A*-A grades, including 27 who gained 9 or more A*/A grades, 19 who achieved 10 or more A*/A grades, and 10 who scored 11 or more A*/A grades.
Alex Sledge achieved an amazing 11 straight A* grades; in addition this year’s star performers included: Alice Beevor (7A*, 3A), Joanna Berechula (10A*, 2A), Lara Casey (9A*, 2A), Libby Flanagan (6A*, 4A), Mahitha Hakim (6A*, 4A), Varun Jain (9A*, 2A), Faiza Khan (9A*, 1A), Ben Knightly (10A*, 1A), Abigail Mellor (6A*, 5A), Daniel Taiwo (9A*, 2A), Maya Varma (7A*, 3A) and Ruth Vassallo (6A*,5A)
The Principal, Mr Craig Mairs, commented: “These results demonstrate what can be achieved by talented pupils working closely with a dedicated staff team. There are many pressures facing young people today, but I am delighted that our students’ hard work has paid off. These results give our pupils an excellent base for the next stage of their education and they can be very proud of their achievements”.
- 96% achieved at least 5A*-C grades with English and Maths; an increase of 2% on last year.
- 100% of all grades in DT: Textiles were A* / A.
- 93% of all grades in Statistics were A* / A.
- 81% of all grades in Religious Studies were A*/A.
- 80% of all grades in Classical Civilisation were A*/A.
- In excess of 50% of all grades in all three sciences were A*/A.

A Level Results – August 2015
Oldham Hulme Grammar School Sixth Form pupils have achieved another very impressive set of A Level results this summer. The overall pass rate was again 99% and over a third of Hulme’s grades were A*/A. The % of A* grades held steady at 9%. Our top performers were Jessica Entwistle, Frances Nolan and Lewis Sear who all achieved an excellent 3xA* grades. This year’s Oldham Youth Mayor, Saskia Edwards, begins her year in office with 2xA* grades to her name.
In addition a further 6 students achieved A grades in at least three subjects bringing the total achieving this benchmark to 10 (22% of the cohort). They are: Molly Ashton, Emily Gamblen, Charlotte Mann, Eleanor Pellowe-Bailey, Lewis Smith and Charlotte Walker.
Once again our students and staff have worked extremely hard to produce these excellent results, and they can be very proud of their efforts.
